How did your crafting journey begin?
I fell in love with crocheting about 4 years ago, and after an injury left me off my feet for 6 weeks, I challenged myself to learn how to crochet toys. That’s how my little octopuses, affectionately named Octies, came to life!
My sister started giving each Octie a name based on its colour, and before I knew it, my little hobby had grown into a brand of its own. Today, I get to turn colourful yarn into adorable little characters, each with its own personality!
What do you love most about creating your handmade products?
There is just something special about a handmade gift! I absolutely love seeing people’s faces light up when they meet their new little Octie. Knowing that something I’ve made with my own hands can bring someone a little happiness makes all the time and effort worthwhile. 💕
What makes your creations special?
Every Octie is made with lots of love, care and attention to detail. I put a lot of thought into making sure they’re securely crocheted, with loose ends and knots tucked safely inside rather than left hanging loose. If I run out of yarn while working on a project, I’d rather start again than risk creating a weak spot by joining yarn where it could compromise the finish.
For me, it’s not just about making something cute; it’s about creating something special that people can treasure. Every little detail matters!
What does it mean to you when someone buys one of your handmade creations?
It’s such a rewarding feeling when someone chooses to take home something I’ve made! Every Octie takes time, effort and care, so knowing that someone sees the value in that and finds joy in their little toy means the world to me. It’s a lovely reminder that even the smallest handmade creations can make someone smile. 🥹
If your creations could tell a story, what would you want that story to be?
I’d want them to tell a story about how the little things in life can make the biggest difference. Whether your Octie is a gift for a friend, a cute companion on your office desk, or even a handy little TV screen cleaner, there’s a place for one in everyday life!
Most of all, I’d want every owner to feel that their Octie is a little reminder of comfort, happiness and unconditional love. No matter where life takes you, sometimes all you need is a little something to make you smile. 🐙💛
What little piece of yourself do you hope customers take home with every purchase?
I hope they take home a little reminder to slow down and appreciate the finer things in life. There’s so much joy to be found in the smallest moments, and if one of my Octies can bring a smile to someone’s face, brighten their day or make them feel loved, then I’ve done exactly what I set out to do.
